Welcome and What to Bring

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to have your child join us for Camp Chillin’. The experience promises to be fun while teaching a valuable skill.  Attached you will find important camp information.  Kindly read it over and feel free to contact us with any questions. Please note that a medical release (as well as other important camp forms) can be found on our website via the following link:

Complete the forms and return them on the first day of camp. A Camp Chillin’ staff member will be at a registration table at the entrance to collect them and answer any questions.

Lunch and Snacks

We will provide water and a peanut free snack daily to those campers staying until 3:45pm.  However, if your child has an allergy then you should provide a snack from home. Lunch is available through our Café for $7.00 per day.  A menu is attached for your convenience. Lunch orders must be placed and paid for on Monday mornings.  Please submit the lunch form on your first day of camp not before. Again, if your child has allergies then it is recommended that you provide your own food.

Groups 1 and 2:

  • Shorts and tee shirts for when they are not skating
  • Sweatshirt or fleece
  • Sweatpants/heavy leggings or snow pants
  • Gloves or mittens
  • Socks that go above ankles as the skates tend to irritate their legs if the socks are low
  • Helmets are recommended, especially for new skaters (bike helmets are acceptable)
  • Please do NOT wear sandals or flip flops or open toed shoes. All shoes must have a back
  • It is also a good idea to pack a complete change of clothes (shorts and tee shirt)…just in case!

Group 3 – Hockey:

Hockey helmets and gloves are required for all participants in our hockey group.

Full equipment (list attached) is required to participate in scrimmages.

All children with hockey gear will be assisted in dressing.

  • Sweatpants AND a sweatshirt or fleece for the morning skate. The morning skate is a skills skate and they will not dress in full equipment but a hockey helmet and gloves are required.
  • Please apply sunscreen in the morning as we may go outside daily.

**For all participants in all groups**

  • Bring your own skates if you have them.  If not, rental skates will be provided free of charge. Please plan on helping your child select the proper rental skate fit on the first day.  You can also email us your child’s shoe size and we will have the skates waiting for you when you arrive. Selected skates will be held for your child for the remainder of the week.
  • All items brought from home should be clearly labeled with your child’s name on it and placed in a bag that is labeled as well.
  • It is highly recommended that campers wear or bring sneakers daily.
  • Playland‘s Camp Chillin’ is peanut free. It is very important that you do not send your child with any food containing peanuts.

Emergency Information

Please fill out the enclosed medical release form and return it to Playland on or before the first day of camp.  This form is necessary for your child to attend camp.

If your child requires use of an EpiPen in the event of an allergic reaction we require the following on the first day of camp:

  • An EpiPen in the original pharmacy packaging labeled by the pharmacy with your child’s name.
  • A doctor’s note stating your child’s specific allergy and course of treatment in the event of an allergic reaction.

Parking/Drop Off

Parking in the main Playland lot is complimentary for pre-registered Camp Chillin’ parents.  Please identify yourself as a Camp Chillin’ parent and provide your name to the parking attendant.  In addition, on Tuesdays through Fridays, we will be offering an optional drop off/pick-up location where a camp counselor will bring your child directly to you.  The camp director will explain this procedure on the first day of camp and provide you with the appropriate forms.  All parents must come into the rink on Mondays for both drop off and pick-up.

Friday Skating Demonstration

At the end of each week, the children are always so proud to show off what they’ve learned throughout the week. Please join us for a short skating demonstration at 3pm every Friday where you can see your child’s improvements! Those children dismissed at 1:30pm are invited to stay and join in on the fun as well J

We are very excited about Camp Chillin’ and look forward to having your children join us!

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at or (914) 481-5941
